About this course
A short, practice-led course on reading, pricing, and managing the risks hidden inside subcontract and back-to-back arrangements.
A subcontract can look straightforward on the page and become anything but straightforward on the project.
Flow-down obligations, payment-chain clauses, liquidated damages, design responsibility, notice requirements, set-off rights, and termination provisions can create a chain of risk in which the subcontractor carries obligations without necessarily receiving the same protections, information, or payment certainty as the party upstream.
This course teaches a practical discipline for navigating that chain. Rather than working through abstract clauses in isolation, the course follows one live construction case across three narrated lessons. At each stage, you will read the contract chain, identify where risk has landed, decide what needs to be priced or challenged, and then use that analysis to negotiate a workable rescue when the project is already under pressure.
What you will cover
